The Chababona Association, in collaboration with the Midelt Education Directorate, offers a unique opportunity for volunteer teaching in Morocco. Over the course of 15 days, six international volunteers will engage with Moroccan students aged 11 to 12 through interactive language and environmental workshops. Taking place between July and August in the town of Midelt, this initiative promotes cross-cultural understanding and creative expression in an inspiring educational setting.
Volunteer Teaching in Morocco: Tasks & Roles
As part of this volunteer teaching in Morocco experience, participants will help lead a variety of educational and intercultural activities at Hassan Dakhil Middle School. Volunteers work in small teams alongside a Moroccan coordinator, guiding students through workshops in language learning, environmental awareness, creative writing, and more. Activities are hands-on and diverse, ranging from introducing students to foreign languages and world cultures, to exploring science topics like plant growth and cloud formation. Students also participate in drama, journalism, geography games, and group projects focused on sustainability. Each session is designed to encourage expression, teamwork, and curiosity in a supportive classroom environment.
Volunteer Teaching in Morocco: Living & Getting There
Volunteers will be based in a comfortable guesthouse in central Midelt, offering shared rooms separated by gender, modern amenities, and a communal atmosphere. Traditional Moroccan meals are served daily, with consideration for dietary needs. The nearest and most convenient arrival point is Fez–Saïs Airport (FEZ), with all ground transport to and from Midelt arranged by the organisers. Pick-ups from other Moroccan airports such as Casablanca, Rabat, or Marrakech can also be arranged. Upon arrival, volunteers receive a welcome kit, programme guide, and orientation to help them settle in quickly and confidently.
Volunteer Teaching in Morocco: What Else
Beyond their classroom roles, volunteers will have the chance to experience the cultural richness and natural beauty of the region through guided weekend excursions. Highlights include exploring the dramatic Ahouli Mines and Moulouya River, an overnight adventure in the Sahara Desert at Merzouga with camel rides under the stars, and visits to Jaafar Gorges and the peaceful Berber village of Tatiouine. Additional cultural activities include trips to local medinas, artisan workshops, and traditional storytelling nights. The €100 programme fee covers all accommodation, meals, and transport, ensuring a smooth and rewarding volunteer teaching in Morocco experience from start to finish.
